The five members in charge of every ETC card we issue.
Every ETC card application, every monthly invoice, every customer question — handled by the same five-member system, with a human final approval on anything that affects a customer.

SoraETC Operations DirectorSora signs off on every ETC card application, billing cycle, and customer-impacting change before it goes out. Final approval lives with Sora.
RinETC QA LeadRin cross-checks every ETC application packet, every invoice, and every account change. Edge cases route to a human, never auto-resolved.
YukiSenior AI Analyst — ApplicationsYuki processes incoming ETC card applications — verifying residency status, ID documents, and shipping requirements in both Japanese and English.
HanaSenior AI Analyst — BillingHana handles monthly invoices, year-end ETC tax reports, and reconciliation of toll discounts and commuter mileage credits.
AoiSenior AI Analyst — SupportAoi answers ETC customer questions in English and Japanese — billing dashboard help, deployment-month pauses, replacement cards, anything the customer needs.
AI assists with extraction and verification — it does not guarantee outcomes. Anything that affects a customer is reviewed by a person before it leaves the team.

Why we built this
In 2011 we began knocking on doors — banks, NEXCO, government channels — trying to build an English-language ETC service for Japan. After two full years and twelve straight "no"s, the thirteenth attempt finally became a "yes". JapanETCcard.com exists because foreign residents, U.S. military families and embassy staff in Japan kept hitting the same wall: a system that only worked smoothly in Japanese. We built this service to work the way Japan's ETC system already works — but in a form people can actually access in English, with real bilingual support behind it.
- Started from real customer friction
- Built around observed pain points
- 13 years of continuous operation
The next-generation JapanETCcard — JapanCardETC.com
www.JapanCardETC.com is currently our temporary domain — a live staging environment where the next-generation site is being built and verified. It carries forward everything JapanETCcard has built since 2013, layered onto a more automated application, operations and support foundation.
Until integration testing and operational validation are complete, JapanETCcard.com remains the service of record. The new platform is scheduled to go live on December 31, 2026 — the same day our sister service JapanTollReceipts.jp launches its new production site, so the two next-generation experiences arrive together.

Analytics Now in Japanese
Our customer-growth analytics dashboards are now fully available in Japanese. The nationwide customer-growth report and the Okinawa report — including their headline summaries, charts, time and location filters, regional breakdowns and the at-a-glance analysis panel — now read naturally in Japanese, replacing the earlier "in preparation" notice. Japanese base, city and region names appear with their correct Japanese spellings throughout, including inside the monthly detail pop-ups, and every figure, percentage and date is kept exactly the same as in the English view.

More Japanese Pages
We've expanded Japanese across many more pages. The regional expressway guides (Hokkaido through Kyushu) and the popular base-area pages are now fully Japanese, along with several help pages — ETC discounts, device compliance, why registration matters, rush & temporary cards, and our partners page. School directory detail pages now show Japanese descriptions, and roadway alerts now appear with their original Japanese headlines on Japanese pages. The SORA assistant and the Contact Us panel are fully Japanese too. Pages we're still translating — such as the Toll Guides tool, the full base/embassy/agency directories, the legal pages and some analytics dashboards — now show a clear Japanese "in preparation" notice instead of mixed English, and will return as each one is fully translated and reviewed. All prices, dates, road names and figures are kept exactly the same in Japanese as in English.

Japanese Now Available
You can now browse JapanETCcard in Japanese. Switch between English and 日本語 at any time using the flag in the header, and your choice carries through as you move around the site. The homepage, How It Works, About, the main navigation menus and the footer are now fully translated, along with the top notice bars and quick links that appear on every page. All prices, deposit amounts, refund details, dates and deadlines are kept exactly the same in Japanese as in English. We're continuing to roll out and refine Japanese across more pages — additional pages are on the way.

Clearer Savings & Customer Info
We refreshed the wording across our public pages so what you read is clear and accurate. Toll-saving information now explains that eligible discounts and actual savings vary by road operator, route, travel time, vehicle class and discount program — instead of implying a fixed result on every trip. Customer and review sections now use precise, verified wording, and our testimonials link straight to real, moderated reviews from our community of thousands of active customers.

Better Titles & Related Guides
Every public page now has a clear, descriptive title and summary plus its own social-share preview card, so links look right when shared on chat and social apps. We also added 'Related Guides' and 'Next steps' sections across schools, bases, embassies, directories, roadways, learning and toll pages — linking each page to the guides and service pages most relevant to it, so it's easier to find what you need without hunting through the menu.
