Designed for residents across mainland Japan and Okinawa, it plans to support exchange between US dollars (USD) and Japanese yen (JPY) only, with real-time rates and clear customer education. The service is in beta development today and is not yet conducting any transactions. Targeted launch: 2027.

Why we built this
Operating JapanETCcard and JapanTollReceipts has put us in front of foreign residents, business visitors, and short-stay travellers for over a decade — and one pattern keeps repeating: it's hard to see what a fair exchange rate looks like in Japan, and even harder to understand how fees are structured. JapanChangeMoney is being built around that gap. The goal is plain-language exchange information, rate transparency, and situational guidance — bilingual EN/JA from day one. The service is currently in beta development.
